Liverpool have shared some bad news ahead of the season as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
is expected to miss most of the upcoming campaign as he recovers from his knee injury. The Englishman picked up the injury in the Champions League semi-final clash against AS Roma at Anfield and had to go under the knife.
Jurgen Klopp stated that Oxlade-Chamberlain did not want news about his expected date of return to be revealed after the surgery as it would have distracted everyone from the Champions League run the team were on.
The German manager also added that the club knew about the length of the Ox’s recovery and there has been no change in the schedule regarding his return.
“His surgery – which he had on the day of our second leg in Roma – has been completely successful and his recovery has started superbly well.
“But the truth of the matter is that we are preparing this season knowing he will not be with us on the pitch for competitive matches for the majority of it. If we do see him back this season it will be a bonus.”
The Ox did have a bit a slow start last season but slowly grew into his role in the midfield after Philippe Coutinho left. This news didn’t go down well with a number of Liverpool fans and here are some of their reactions on Twitter
