Aston Villa are looking to sign Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn on a season-long loan, according to Sky Sports. The Welsh attacker played just one game for us last season and even though Jurgen Klopp rates the 18-year-old, a move to a club where he would get some valuable playing time is something the Reds seem willing to take.
Villa’s financial problems have eased after the takeover by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens. The club is not expected to sell a number of players either.
The Championship club missed out on a place in the Premier League last season as they lost the playoff final to Fulham but Woodburn could give them an extra edge in the attack and help them push for promotion once again.
The report claims that the Welsh attacker has interested a couple of other clubs as well. Wigan’s bid was rejected by Liverpool while Sheffield United also want the highly-rated youngster.
Woodburn could not get playing time at Liverpool last season and that certainly has stagnated his growth. It was a surprise that no deal was finalised for him to leave on loan last season. However, we should ensure he goes to the right club this time around.
The Welsh attacker is still only 18 and has a lot of time to grow and get better. Liverpool should only be looking to send Woodburn to Villa if they can guarantee him a good number of starts.

Anything else would be pointless as the player needs minutes under his belt. A good season in the Championship would be perfect for the 18-year-old and he might just have a part to play for us in the future.
