Liverpool are considering a move for 20-year-old goalkeeper Kai McKenznie-Lyle according to the Mirror (h/t Sky Sports).

McKenznie-Lyle plays for non-league side Barnet and played for the U23 team in the pre-season. The 20-year-old stands at a mammoth 6ft 7in and made his senior debut for the side back in 2015.

The young keeper has played for Guyana, having made two appearances, and also played at youth level for Tottenham.

Liverpool already have Alisson on their books as their No.1 but there could be an opening for the No.2 role.

The Telegraph reports that both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius could be sold this summer, which would free up the No.2 spot at Anfield.

Alisson

The Reds have already sold Danny Ward to Leicester and the only remaining goalkeepers are the ones from the youth and reserve sides.

McKenznie-Lyle will probably fight it out with the rest of the youth keepers for a chance to sit on the bench. It will be interesting to see just how this plays out, especially if we do end up selling both Karius and Mignolet.

Having a back-up keeper with experience is the way to do things, especially if Alisson ends up picking up an injury. Jurgen Klopp has always put his faith in youth and he could be doing the same when it comes to our goalkeeping situation.
