Liverpool may have to reduce their £12m asking price to offload flop star

Liverpool might have to rethink selling Simon Mignolet as the Liverpool Echo reports that no club has submitted a bid for the Belgian due to his £12million price tag.

The Belgian must leave the side this summer, thanks to the arrival of Alisson. However, the Liverpool Echo claims that Liverpool should reduce their asking price or loan the 30-year-old keeper out.

The report also claims that Besiktas are one of the several clubs interested in the player but they want to sign him on loan. Barcelona, interestingly, have made no contact with the player’s representatives regarding a move.

There is another problem for Liverpool and that is Mignolet’s contract. The Belgian had signed a new deal in 2016 and he still has three more years left to run.

The Belgian would be returning to Melwood for pre-season training on Sunday but it would be a miracle if he stays at Liverpool beyond the summer window.

Liverpool have already sold Danny Ward to Leicester City and we should sell either Mignolet or Loris Karius as Alisson would be the No.1 at the club this season.

Mignolet hasn’t convinced since making the switch from Sunderland. Some might even say he should have been sold a season or two earlier.

Even if clubs are not willing to pay the £12million we want, Michael Edwards must ensure we get a good deal out of him.
