Jurgen Klopp faces a major dilemma regarding his centre-back options for our first clash of the season against West Ham United.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan have injuries and are major doubts for the friendly against Torino on Tuesday.

The report also goes on to say that Dejan Lovren is set to join us and only Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are our fit senior defenders.

Klopp also was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as he provided more details of the centre-back situation at the club.

“From six to three.

“Dejan didn’t train so far. He is back Monday so probably won’t play Tuesday and Sunday will be very difficult as well.

“Joel, we will have to see. Klavan, should not be too serious, but if Tuesday is too early I don’t know yet.”

The manager did claim (h/t Liverpool Echo) that he might tweak things with the formation for the friendly against Torino, which is our last friendly before our opener against the Hammers.

While Liverpool have been pretty good in pre-season with wins against Napoli, Manchester United and Manchester City, Klopp has still not made a decision on the starting XI to take on West Ham United.

“Why should I make the line-up now? A lot of players look in the moment ready for the start.”

Klopp also added (h/t Liverpool Echo) that the task for the club was to find 11 players that would be fit to play the game against the Hammers and last the distance.
