Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir has kept the door open for him to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer. The French attacker‘s move to Liverpool fell through after the Reds pulled the plug during the medical, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Lyon man still went with the France squad for the World Cup in Russia and came back with a winner’s medal.

Fekir was speaking to the Lyon website (h/t Liverpool Echo), where he claimed that he was happy at the Ligue 1 club. The 25-year-old also added that the transfer window is still open.

“I am very happy here (in Lyon).

“But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very quickly in football.”

The Liverpool Echo also added that Chelsea are interested in the Frenchman. However, the Blues do have a problem as Fekir sees the Champions League as an important competition to play in and Chelsea would only be in the Europa League next season (h/t Liverpool Echo).

“It is important to play in it. Lyon are an ambitious club which always wants to progress, fight at the top of the table and be present in major competitions.

“We are lucky to be able to play in this magnificent competition.”

Jurgen Klopp had recently claimed that the Reds would not be signing any more players in the transfer window, as per the Liverpool Echo.

However, we could do with another attacker in the side and with Thursday’s transfer deadline looming, it would be fantastic if we could somehow sign Fekir for the coming season.
