Here’s why Liverpool did not sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho this summer

Liverpool had a decent transfer window as they signed four players. Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri joined us but we did not sign an attacking midfielder, although Shaqiri can play that role.

The Reds were linked with a move for Nabil Fekir but that deal fell through due to a medical issue (h/t Liverpool Echo

) The report even claimed that we had even filmed a video of the Frenchman’s unveiling, only for it to go in vain.

However, the Liverpool Echo explains why Liverpool have not bought a replacement for Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian joined Barcelona in January last season and picked up the La Liga title.

But Liverpool did not sign a like-for-like replacement for the former Inter Milan man and did not get anyone in the summer window either.

The report claims that the right player was not available for the Reds. Daniel Sturridge and Shaqiri’s form in pre-season in a deeper role was also promising for the Reds.

The Reds also believe that some of the best football played by Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino was after Coutinho left.

Liverpool also reached the final of the Champions League without the Barcelona star. The Reds will be looking to mount a real challenge for the Premier League title this season with our new signings. Coutinho? We’re good without him, aren’t we?
