Liverpool legend Ian Rush has claimed that the players could become legends and the manager could become “a God” if we win the Premier League title this season.
The Reds have signed four players in the off-season and beat West Ham 4-0 in their first game of the season.
However, Rush was quoted by the Mirror as he rattled off a few stars that could not win the title for the Reds and how it has been a long time since Liverpool have lifted the league title.
“You’ve seen so many great Liverpool players, who haven’t won the league. Players like Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher have missed out.
“The current squad has to realise that, if they do win the league, they will become legends. And the manager will be like a god.
“It’s been such a long time since the last title. I was part of that side under Kenny, which won the championship back in 1990.”
Rush also added that it was hard to believe that Liverpool haven’t won the league title for almost 30 years. The striker also compared how Manchester United have usurped us in terms of winning league titles and that was difficult for Liverpool fans to accept.
The legend, however, praised Jurgen Klopp but warned that the German has to win trophies now with Liverpool.
Rush also added that the club spending on players such as Alisson and Virgil van Dijk means they have to start thinking about winning the league title.

Liverpool have been growing under Klopp and reaching the Champions League final was a big achievement last season. However, we have to start picking up titles to make all the investment count and there is no better time than the current season.
