Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham United has been voted as the LG Performance of the Week, as per the Liverpool Echo. The report adds that Jurgen Klopp would receive a celebratory bottle of champagne and a trophy to mark the result.

The decision to award us was decided by a five-member panel that consisted of Sir Alex Ferguson, former Everton boss Joe Royle, LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, ex-Wimbledon manager Dave Bassett and former Peterborough boss Barry Fry.

The report further adds that the 4-0 result was Liverpool’s biggest opening day win in 24 years.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for us in the win against the Hammers. A brace from Sadio Mane and a late goal from Daniel Sturridge completed the rout for the London side.

Liverpool’s win meant that we finished gameweek 1 on top of the Premier League table. Amongst the other sides, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United also won their respective games.

Our next fixture is against Crystal Palace on Monday night. Selhurst Park doesn’t hold great memories, especially when we came close to winning the league in 2014 only to lose out in the end after a 3-3 draw. However, if we play to our potential, the Eagles could be in for a battering at the hands of Klopp’s army.
