The Mirror (h/t Daily Record) reports that Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is set for a new contract after a great first year at the club
Robertson joined us from Hull City at the start of last season and quickly established himself as the first-choice at Anfield ahead of Alberto Moreno.
Robertson was a crucial part of our team that finished fourth in the league and reached the Champions League final.
The 24-year-old was bought for a fee of £10m (h/t Daily Record) and will double his wages to more than £60,000-a-week as per the report.
The Scotsman recorded five assists and a goal for us last season in the Premier League and started in our 4-0 demolition of West Ham last weekend.
The report adds that Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool management are keen to extend the Scot’s stay at Anfield although Robertson has three years left on his current deal. The management is confident that talks will go smoothly and it should be completed quickly, claims the report.
Robertson was one of the best signings in the Premier League last season and after establishing himself as our first-choice left-back, he should look to get better in his second season at Anfield.
