Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Liverpool over a deal for Divock Origi as per ESPN. The Bundesliga giants want to sign the Belgian on loan with a view to a permanent deal, while Liverpool want to sell the 23-year-old, as per the report.
Origi spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg and the Reds value the Belgian at £27m (h/t ESPN). The report adds that Dortmund are hoping that Liverpool might change terms given that the striker is not a part of Jurgen Klopp’s plan this season.
The former Lille man joined us in 2014 but the lack of goals has been a problem for the striker. Origi scored just six times in 34 appearances for Wolfsburg last season and also had his issues with injury. The 23-year-old would not get a lot of playing time this season due to the number of forwards we have.
Roberto Firmino is the first-choice while Daniel Sturridge has seen a resurgence in his Anfield career this season. Dominic Solanke is also on the books and it would make sense for us to get rid of Origi as quickly as we can. A loan move might not be the ideal solution but it could lead to the Belgian playing regular football.

The 23-year-old could have been a quality player for us but he could never reach his potential. A move to Klopp’s former club could rekindle his career.
