Liverpool ground out a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday night but one summer signing was missing from the 18-man squad at Anfield.

Fabinho is yet to make an appearance for the Reds since making his switch from AS Monaco. The Brazilian was quoted by Liverpool Echo, saying that he is getting accustomed to our playing style.

“I’m aware it’s a different playing style than Monaco.

“There were two in midfield there whereas here at Liverpool there’s usually three.”

The former Monaco star claimed that his teammates were helping him settle down and that there are certain similarities to what he did at his former club.

“I knew it would change and I feel I’ve adapted well. You seek guidance from the other players around you and that’s worked really well and I feel my performances in pre-season were good.

“Although the systems are slightly different, there are similarities too.

“Monaco had a transition similar to Liverpool’s. I think the two teams can be compared in this way; both them have very fast transition, with every fast players up front.

“I hope to be as important here as I was at Monaco.”

Fabinho played in pre-season against Torino but he missed a penalty in the victory over the Serie A side.

Liverpool have done pretty well in his absence with three wins from three games. However, the Reds have a long season ahead with three cup competitions adding to the schedule.

Fabinho will eventually receive his chance to impress the Anfield faithful and this could be a story similar to that of Andy Robertson’s.
