Sadio Mane revealed that Manchester United approached to sign him during Louis van Gaal’s tenure but the Senegal star rejected a move to Old Trafford.

The winger signed for Liverpool after a couple of impressive seasons with Southampton. However, United were interested in the 26-year-old after his first season with the Saints.

Mane was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:

“Some teams wanted me – Manchester [United], the wrong team wanted me.”

The Liverpool star added that the Red Devils made an offer for him but the move never felt right.

“Of course, I spoke with Van Gaal, and they even made an offer. But for me it was not the right club, it was not the right moment.

“To feel this – the right moment, the right coach, the right club.”

The Senegal star has been in great form this season, with three goals in three games. Our next clash is against Leicester City and Mane must aim to add to his tally at King Power Stadium.

The 26-year-old has scored 36 times in 76 games for Liverpool and notched up 20 goals for us in the previous campaign.

It is fortunate that Mane didn’t sign for United as we would have lost out on a quality player. However, it also speaks volumes about our team as the Senegal star picked us, instead of moving to any other side in the league.
