The Mirror reports that every signing under Jurgen Klopp must speak English as it is important for the team.

This is one reason why new signing Fabinho has not featured for Liverpool this season, as per the report.

However, ESPN claims that the absence of the former Monaco man is due to him adjusting to English conditions. ESPN further adds that Naby Keita and Fabinho’s grasp of the language is limited, something which is “essential” for the Liverpool manager.

ESPN added that Alberto Moreno was told by Klopp to “fully grasp” English and the manager is surprised at how good Alisson’s command over the language is.

The need to learn the language has been confirmed by Liverpool’s ex-language tutor, Alan Redmond. The former Red also claimed that foreign players trying to learn the language ended up doing well at the club.

Redmond was quoted by ESPN as saying:

“It’s [learning English] hugely important.

“Ten times out of ten I find that the best players have an appetite to learn.

“I won’t name names, but I can think of seven or eight occasions where players turned up and you could see they had no interest in learning the language.

“Usually in the first or second transfer window they were out of there on loan or permanently.”

It makes sense for them to pick up the language as it helps in their day-to-day life in England too.
