Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Steven Gerrard doesn’t ask him for advice and is doing a good job at Rangers.

Gerrard left the U18 role at Anfield to take over at the Scottish giants this season. The former Red has helped his new club qualify for the Europa League group stage and has lost just one of his four league games in charge.

That defeat came against rivals Celtic in the Old Firm Derby and Klopp claimed (h/t Daily Star) the pair are in contact:

“Gerrard is putting a good team together.

“When I started out as a manager I didn’t ask for advice because I didn’t know who to ask.

“Steven doesn’t ask because he doesn’t have to.

“We are in contact, but not for advice.”

Gerrard has a tough task at hand as Celtic are looking to win their eighth league title in a row. Furthermore, he is up against former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Englishman played under Rodgers but Klopp is certain Rangers will close the gap under Gerrard despite the loss against the Hoops.

“Celtic are the top team in the league, but it’s not like they were 50 or 60 per cent better than Rangers like they have been in the last few years.

“Rangers are getting closer and that’s the only way to get them one day.

“That’s Steven’s job, but so far it’s more than good.”

Winning the title would be a huge ask for the current Rangers side but if they come second to the Hoops, it will be a major success for the Englishman.

Gerrard took a risk by taking the Rangers job but it seems to be working out for him, at least for now.
