Barcelona are looking to raid the Premier League and solve their left-back problems. Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail) claims that the Catalan giants are looking at Alberto Moreno as one of the replacements for Lucas Digne.
The La Liga side sold Digne to Everton in the summer window and that has left them short of cover for Jordi Alba at the back.
The other player that Ernesto Valverde is keeping a tab on is Nacho Monreal of Arsenal and the report adds that the pair would become free agents in the summer.
Moreno’s place in the Liverpool team isn’t secure, given that Jurgen Klopp is known to prefer Andy Robertson as the left-back. The newly-appointed Scotland captain has been in brilliant form since last season and has replaced the Spaniard as our first-choice left-back.
Liverpool signed Moreno from Sevilla in 2014 but the player has struggled to perform to his best.
The 26-year-old isn’t defensively sound but he is great in the attack, making him a decent option for Barcelona.
Moreno hasn’t made an appearance for us this season but we, like Barcelona, don’t have anyone else to cover Robertson should the Scot pick up an injury.
The Spaniard would be handy when we rest Robertson this season and if we are to sell him, we should first find a replacement for the former Sevilla man.
Barca have signed a number of Liverpool players in the past but Moreno joining the Catalans would be something.
