Liverpool star shares positive update after horrific injury during Tottenham game

Roberto Firmino was one of our stars in the 2-1 win over Tottenham but the Brazilian was subbed after picking up an injury courtesy Jan Vertonghen.

The pair were chasing a ball in the second half of the game when the Belgian’s finger went into Firmino’s eye socket.

As a result, the referee gave a free-kick to Spurs while Firmino had to be replaced.

The Brazilian allayed fears of a major injury and posted a message on Instagram.

The Daily Star reports that the player was taken to Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in London for a check-up but it seems everything is fine.

Liverpool play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League midweek and missing the Brazilian would have been a problem.

Jurgen Klopp was concerned with the injury and was quoted by the Daily Star saying:

“But it is something with his eye and, at the moment, it is not comfortable for him.”

Thankfully, the injury isn’t as serious as the picture shows. Firmino is a little lucky but the Brazilian was fantastic in the win over Spurs.

The 26-year-old certainly is back to his best after a slow start to the season and all eyes will be at Anfield on Tuesday as we welcome PSG.

The Brazilian should start for the Reds and in a charged-up atmosphere, we should start as slight favourites for all the three points.
