Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes the Reds lack experience as they look to win a first-ever Premier League title.
The current Rangers manager was close to winning the elusive title in 2013/14 when disaster struck against Chelsea and we lost to Manchester City in the race.
Gerrard was speaking to BBC 5 Live (h/t Express) and was quoted as saying:
“I think the only thing they haven’t got going for them is experience.
“Obviously someone who went very close myself I think we lacked that experience as well.
“I always felt when we were trying to win it I always felt like we were short in certain positions.”
Liverpool dropped points for the first time this season after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea. However, we came back from one down as Daniel Sturridge scored an incredible goal in the 89th minute.
Jurgen Klopp has turned us into a formidable side and we have defeated Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham this season.
Liverpool haven’t won any trophies in recent years and Klopp has to break that duck. And this team looks as good as any we have seen from the Reds during the Premier League era.
