“I cried a lot with my wife” – Liverpool star speaks out about transfer from Italian giants to Anfield

Alisson has revealed that he cried when it was time to leave AS Roma and join Liverpool. The Brazilian left the Italian giants in the summer for a then-world record fee for a keeper and even considered staying in Rome as he spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport

(h/t ESPN).

The 26-year-old has made a brilliant start to his career in Liverpool but claimed it was difficult to leave the Italian side.

“I cried a lot, together with my wife. It’s only right that I’m honest about it: I made a professional decision; a step forward in my career and for Roma, who earned a huge sum.

“I decided with my head to move to Liverpool, but my heart was full of tears. I spent two special years in Rome. My daughter was born there and I have a lot of friends there outside of football.”

The keeper added he was happy in Rome and enjoyed some of its sights such as the Colosseum and claimed the Serie A is still a big league.

“I’ve got big ambitions and so do Liverpool, and now I’m playing in the biggest league in the world. [Serie A is] not far behind, it’s just different and less intense.”

The Brazil international further added that Jurgen Klopp would often speak to him via FaceTime after the clubs agreed on a deal. The German explained the project to the keeper and Alisson claimed he always admired our manager.

The keeper might have been torn leaving Rome but he has made us a formidable side. The 26-year-old was excellent in our game against Chelsea as he made some quality saves and he has already become an important player for us.

Alisson can only get better with more games at the club and if he plays in top form, we might end up having the best defence in the league.
