Liverpool face another test of their title credentials and this could be the biggest game of the season. The Reds face Manchester City at Anfield and will be smarting after their 1-0 loss at Napoli in midweek.

More than the loss, the performance was dreadful from Jurgen Klopp’s men. The players looked tired and our attack was toothless at the Stadio San Paolo.

City are tied with us at the top of the table and a win on Sunday could give a huge boost to either side. Klopp has a XI that he prefers to play, however, there could be one change in the team for this game.

Predicted Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian pulled off some great saves in Italy and will have to be at his best against City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

Alexander-Arnold was targeted by Napoli and exploited well in midweek. The Englishman has to have a better game to keep out the likes of David Silva and Raheem Sterling.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Dutch defender has been excellent since the start of the season for the Reds. Van Dijk has to have a quality game and will be wary of the threat from Sergio Aguero.

Joe Gomez (CB)

The English centre-back has been fantastic for us and needs to have a great game at Anfield on Sunday.

Andy Robertson (LB)

Robertson also has to be careful of the attacking threat of City. The Scot is important for our attack too as he puts in great crosses for the forwards.

Gini Wijnaldum Liverpool

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

The Dutchman didn’t have a great night in Italy but has to ramp us his performance for Sunday.

James Milner (CM)

We doubt Jordan Henderson will start after the calamity in Naples. Milner has been a more consistent player and should play on Sunday.

Xherdan Shaqiri (CM)

The Swiss star hasn’t started too many games for us but should play in midfield for this clash.

Mohamed Salah Liverpool

Mohamed Salah (RW)

The Egyptian has been poor this season, there are no two ways about it. Salah needs a goal or two and this could be the game where we see his best.

Roberto Firmino (ST)

Firmino is another player struggling for goals but his hard work will be key to us getting the three points.

Sadio Mane (LW)

The Senegal star hasn’t been great in attack but his pace will be crucial to unlocking the City defence.
