Liverpool have four players nominated for the 2018 Ballon d’Or award. 30 candidates for the prize were revealed yesterday with Alisson being included in the first batch of five players.
The other three Liverpool players were nominated form our attack. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been shortlisted for the award, as reported by Liverpool FC.
The trio helped the Reds finish in the top four last season and we reached the Champions League final too. Although Firmino and Mane were good, Salah had an incredible season and broke the 38-game Premier League record for goals.
The Egyptian scored 44 goals in all competitions last season, while Firmino had 27 and Mane bagged 20.
Alisson did his best work for AS Roma as they reached the Champions League semis and finished third in the Serie A.
The Brazilian joined Liverpool at the start of the season and has impressed between the sticks. Alisson has five clean sheets from eight Premier League games and has conceded three goals in the league.
There are a number of other top stars who have been nominated for the award. Kylian Mbappe, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Harry Kane are in the running for the award.
