Liverpool interested in 21-year-old Dutch sensation with €20m release clause

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on PSV youngster Steven Bergwijn, according to Sport (h/t Metro).

The 21-year-old Dutch winger has made a great start to the season with four goals and four assists from eight league games.

The youngster’s form has helped PSV win their opening eight games of the league campaign. The Dutch giants are five points clear of their nearest rivals and have scored 30 goals in the Eredivisie.

The report adds that Liverpool and Manchester United have sent scouts to watch the player this season and are interested in signing him.

The 21-year-old has a €20m (h/t Metro) release clause and PSV boss Mark van Bommel believes the youngster is already a top player and has the right people around him.

The former Dutch international was quoted by the Metro as saying:

“Steven has very sensible people around him.

“His parents are real example parents, in the way they deal with him.

“We talked well together during the summer. I think it’s really great. Perhaps already a top European player. Yes, already.”

The youngster joined PSV after spending a few years in the Ajax academy. Bergwijn made his senior debut for the side in 2014 and has become one of the hottest properties in the Dutch league.
