Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has sustained a broken thumb, according to reports (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The star was with the national side when the injury occurred during training, and the Liverpool Echo claims Mane would be assessed by the club once he returns to Melwood.
This is another injury that Jurgen Klopp has to deal with from the international break. Virgil van Dijk is still suffering from a rib problem while Mohamed Salah picked up a minor problem for Egypt.
The duo are expected to continue their treatment at Anfield, as per the report.
The 26-year-old Mane has four goals to his name this season, and it will be interesting to see if he plays against Huddersfield at the weekend. Liverpool are tied at the top of the table with Chelsea and Manchester City on 20 points.
Some Liverpool fans were cursing the international break for the number of injuries we picked up while a few believed this was good as Mane needed a rest.
So that’s Virgil, Salah and Mane now a doubt for Saturday. It’s gone great.

Might as well rest Mane, give Shaqiri a run out.

Salah and Mane do not deserve to start on merit. Give Sturridge and Shaqiri their shot.
