Mohamed Salah scores for Liverpool

Liverpool come off an impressive 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in their previous match and will expect a similar outcome in their next tie.

The Reds face Cardiff City at home and Jurgen Klopp might mix things with his line-up. The German played a really strong team in the win over the Serbians, and here is our predicted starting XI for the Merseyside giants.

Predicted Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson Becker (GK)

Alisson kept another clean sheet in his previous game and would love to make it seven shut-outs in the Premier League this season.

Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez (RB)

Gomez played as a central defender in the last game but could be shifted to the right against Neil Warnock’s men.

Dejan Lovren (CB)

The Croatian defender didn’t start against Red Star but could get a game as we have a number of tough games coming up.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

No Liverpool team can be drawn up without naming the Dutch defender. Van Dijk has been excellent this season and should remain in the starting XI.

Andy Robertson (LB)

Robertson performed well in our last game and should keep his spot, despite seeing Alberto Moreno replace him as a substitute against Red Star.

James Milner (CM)

Milner didn’t start in our 4-0 win over Red Star but the Englishman should return to the XI against the newly promoted side.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

Wijnaldum was solid in the last game and must start against Cardiff on Saturday.

Adam Lallana (RAM)

Lallana coming back to fitness is a huge boost for the rest of the season. The Englishman still looks a little off the pace and another game under his belt should help him get back to his best.

Xherdan Shaqiri (CAM)

Shaqiri was immense in the game against the Serbians and should remain in the side to take on the Bluebirds.

Sadio Mane (LAM)

Mane was on the scoresheet in the win, and even with a cast on his hand, he should play against Cardiff.

Mohamed Salah (ST)

Salah plays as the striker in Klopp’s new system and with two goals against the Serbs, the Egyptian should keep his place in the team.
