Liverpool have opened contract talks with England international Joe Gomez’s representatives, according to Liverpool Echo. The Reds are keen to reward the youngster for his amazing progress this season.
Joe Gomez last signed a contract in 2017 and has forged a brilliant partnership with the rock-solid Virgil van Dijk. Since joining Liverpool for £3.5m, he has made 53 appearances, providing 3 assists.
The youngster has made tremendous progress since arriving at Anfield. Starting out as a right-back, he has firmly proved that he is capable of playing in central defence as well.
Despite suffering a serious injury last season, he has managed to come back well and deserves a new deal. It looks like Jurgen Klopp has managed to work his magic on the youngster.
It is important that we manage to hold onto young and promising talents like Joe Gomez. A young English talent like Gomez is worth a lot and it would be ridiculous if we don’t manage to get the best out of him.
This season is turning out to be a good one for the 21-year-old and if he manages to continue progressing this way, big things await him for sure.
For now, the new contract is well deserved and let’s hope the talks are concluded quickly.
