Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri wants the team to continue playing in the same way and be successful. The former Stoke man was a substitute in the 4-1 win over Cardiff City. Shaqiri got an important goal when he came off the bench to make it 3-1 and was quoted by the Liverpool website as saying:
“We have a very good team and we want to be successful. When we play like this we can be successful.
“Our goal has to be to be successful. We are in a good way but we have to keep going, it’s just the beginning of the season and we have a lot of games to come. We are in a good way.”
Liverpool had taken an early lead thanks to Mohamed Salah and made it two via Sadio Mane. However, Cardiff pulled a goal back and made things tough for us before Shaqiri’s goal.
The attacker credited the away side for their style but wanted the Reds to be “brave” throughout the game.
“We had to be brave all game.
“You saw in the beginning, we scored very early for 1-0 but it was a tough game to play and it was not nice to play against this team; they are a very physical team. We knew they were very strong in [set-pieces] with big players in their team.”
Shaqiri’s strike was his first for the Reds this season and there is no doubt more will come. The attacker is a quality option to have in the team and hopefully, he will get more playing time in the coming months.
Liverpool haven’t clicked this season, but we seem to be slowly getting there.
