Virgil van Dijk has been one of the best signings in Jurgen Klopp’s tenure. The Dutch defender has made a real difference to the team and we have only conceded four goals from 10 Premier League games this season.
The former Southampton man is possibly the best central defender in the Premier League, and some Liverpool
fans created a new song for the Dutchman. We’ve had songs for Mohamed Salah and Maxi Rodriguez in recent years while the “Allez, Allez, Allez” chant caught fire during our Champions League journey last season.
This time, the song is to the tune of “It’s a Dirty Old Town” by The Dubliners with a faster tempo:
“He’s our centre-half, he’s our number four.
“Watch him defend and we watch him score.
“He can pass the ball, calm as you like.
“He’s Virgil Van Dijk, he’s Virgil Van Dijk!”
We aren’t sure of the “score” part since the Dutch defender has just one goal to his name since joining us in January.
However, the song is extremely catchy and will be fun to hear this being sung around Anfield when the defender produces a super tackle or manages a goal.
