Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot is close to signing a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Calciomercato (h/t Express).
The report claims the player seemed set to leave in January or at the end of the season with his contract expiring in the summer. However, the Frenchman seems close to penning a deal worth £7m per season (h/t Express) to remain at the Ligue 1 club.
Rabiot is one of the brightest talents in the French league but couldn’t make it to the team that lifted the World Cup.
A number of clubs have been linked with the midfielder (h/t Express) as Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan keeping a close eye at the developments in France.
The 23-year-old has been in decent form this season with two goals from 10 Ligue 1 appearances and would have been a great signing on a free.
The report adds that Rabiot is keen to test himself outside France, and a number of top clubs are interested in the 23-year-old.
Liverpool have options for their midfield and it is a little difficult seeing Rabiot start right from the get-go. However, the player has potential and would add more competition for midfield positions at the club.

The Reds were busy in the summer window bringing in midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho, but we shouldn’t rule out any moves in the January window, for now.
