Liverpool against Red Star Belgrade

Liverpool have been handed another boost ahead of their clash against Arsenal as Matteo Guendouzi will not face the Reds at the Emirates.

The youngster picked up two yellow cards in Arsenal’s win over Blackpool in the Carabao Cup and will miss the important tie on Saturday.

Unai Emery was speaking after their win in the tie and hinted that Guendouzi could have featured against the Reds.

The Spanish manager was quoted as saying (h/t Football.london):

“When you are playing and you are on the pitch you can have things positive and things negative like one injury, like one red card, like a 90 minutes with hard work and then don’t let you play other matches.

“Red cards, like injuries are like that. It’s football. We have a lot of players, they are looking where to play to help us and take these responsibilities but show his performance, his quality for the team, and I am going to prepare with other players and thinking so we can have performance for a big match on Saturday.”

Arsenal vs Liverpool

Arsenal have a bit of an injury crisis as Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal didn’t play in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. In fact, Granit Xhaka had to deputise as a left-back at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool should look to take advantage of this situation and with us having no football in midweek, we should be the fresher side against the Gunners.

Arsenal are in decent form and lie just four points behind us, but we should be looking to pick up all three points against the Londoners on Saturday.
