Jurgen Klopp believes that winning the Premier League is the only way the season can be considered a success for Liverpool
.The Reds are third in the Premier League, a couple of points behind leaders Manchester City, and are unbeaten after 11 games. Our next game is against rock-bottom Fulham on Sunday before we head off for the international break.
Klopp was quoted by the Daily Mail regarding the start to the season by the Reds, and their rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.
“The season so far, point-wise, is really successful but it doesn’t feel like that for two reasons, Klopp said.
“The comparison with last year and the free-flowing football, and Man City, Chelsea and the others who are playing a very good season as well.
“You see this week, we struggle in Belgrade and they win 6-0. It’s a big gap. It feels a bit like that this season can only be a success if we become champion, in a year when our competitors are the champion of last year and the champion of two years ago.”
The German even spoke about the threat from Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United after 11 games of the season.
Klopp certainly hit the nail on the head suggesting the performance of the side doesn’t look all that great, and our recent loss to Red Star Belgrade has also made our Champions League progress a doubt.
