Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that the Reds are in contact with Gareth Southgate regarding Joe Gomez’s time on the pitch for England.
Club football takes a break for a couple of weeks with international games filling up the schedule, and the Daily Star reports that Gomez has been nursing an Achilles injury.
The English defender played the entire 90 minutes in our 2-0 win over Fulham, and Klopp was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:
“Joe has played all the games, we are not sure, we are in talks about that.”
The gaffer provided an update on two other stars that returned from injury in our win over the Cottagers. Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita came on as substitutes in the second half, and the German was happy for the pair to get some minutes during the international break.
“Hendo, for him, he is 100% fit and needs games as well. That’s cool.”
The manager added that he would prefer for the players to remain with the Reds, but had no issue should Keita travel as his country have just one game during the break.
“If you ask me, I always want them to stay here. But in this case, it’s good for him. Guinea play just one game against Ivory Coast, and that’s good for him.
“He is fit and has been in training for five days. Now he’ll have another four or five days training and play a game. It’s brilliant for him. I’m happy.”

The pair missed almost the entirety of the last month due to injuries. Hopefully, all of our players come back injury free for our next game against a tough Watford side.
