Liverpool summer signing Alisson has hailed John Achterberg for helping him acclimatise since joining the Reds.
Alisson was the most expensive goalkeeper in the world before Chelsea bought Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Brazilian has proved his ability between the sticks and has made some great saves for the Anfield club.
Liverpool have conceded just five goals from 12 games, and the 26-year-old told Liverpool’s website (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“John has proved to be not just a great goalkeeping coach but a great guy, a great person. Since I arrived I’ve noticed he’s loved by all here.
“He leaves me very calm and relaxed on a day-to-day basis and we learn from each other’s work. I’ve pointed out some areas that contribute to his work and likewise he has helped me with things I can improve in on the pitch.
“I believe the relationship between a goalkeeper and the goalkeeping coach needs to be an exchange, with a great deal of trust, and we have been developing this as a team, training together, and I’m getting on great with the other ‘keepers.”
Alisson added that he was happy at the club, and believed some of our younger keepers like Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher have great potential.
The Brazilian could get better in the months to come but has done a great job for us so far. The keeper has made a few errors during his spell at Anfield, however, there is no doubt he could develop into one of the best players we have had between the sticks.
