“I probably have to do two months of running” – Liverpool star provides next steps on road to recovery

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is providing signs of recovery from his horrible injury last season. The 25-year-old recently posted a video of him hitting the crossbar with his left foot after a bit of a training session.

The Liverpool star has been missed this season as there aren’t many players who can drive into the opposition like the Ox, and the Englishman provided an update on his injury.

The Englishman still has some way to go before complete fitness and was quoted by the Mirror:

“The next target for me is to build up more in the gym, back towards being able to run outside again and start plodding around the pitches.

“I probably have to do two months of running, which is not really my favourite thing either. And then when the ball comes out it becomes easier.”

The midfielder added that he would love to play before the end of the season. The 25-year-old claimed that playing a few games would hand him a mental boost to start next season well.

Oxlade-Chamberlain further spoke about the support he has received from the fans and how things are different here when compared to his previous club.

“I’ve had injuries in the past where it’s been difficult because pressure from fans has been ‘he’s injured again’ or ‘we can’t trust him he’s always injured’.

“But I’ve got injured here and I’ve had nothing but positive feedback from the fans, which for me I can’t thank them enough and that’s what keeps me going every day to try and reward their patience and support.”

It would be great to see the Ox back this season, however, we need to ensure he is fully fit before letting him on the pitch.

Oxlade-Chamberlain needs a lot of support from the club and fans, and it seems he is getting that and more as he plans his recovery.
