Ben Woodburn

Liverpool are considering recalling Ben Woodburn from his spell at Championship side Sheffield United, according to Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo). The 19-year-old has only made one start in the league this season and has failed to score or assist for the Blades.

Woodburn joined the Blades on a season-long loan but just hasn’t been able to cut it. The Welsh attacker was recalled by the Reds to take part in an U23 game against Derby County recently too.

Liverpool have the option of recalling him from the loan deal, as per the report, and it will be interesting to see if we activate the clause once the January window opens.

The Welshman’s development has stunted in recent years and he needs to play regularly if he wants to have a chance of playing for the Reds.

Liverpool have a number of options in their attack, however, Woodburn could be played out wide too. Jurgen Klopp has given opportunities to young players and Woodburn is one of the starlets who has a ton of potential.

We have seen Harry Wilson do well after moving to Derby County in the Championship. There is a lot of competition from young players to break into the Liverpool first-team, and Woodburn has to pull his socks up if he wants to make it at Anfield.
