Jurgen Klopp has refuted rumours of summer signing Fabinho leaving Liverpool. The Brazilian hasn’t lit up at Anfield despite a huge move from Monaco at the start of the season.
The 25-year-old has played a few games for the Reds and has five starts in all competitions this season.
Reports (h/t Mirror) claim that the Brazilian could have been sold to fund a move for Christian Pulisic, however, the manager spoke ahead of our clash against Watford (h/t Mirror) shutting down the rumours:
“He has played 3 of the last 4 I think.
“Now is the most intense period of the year. Of course he won’t leave.
“It would be completely crazy.”
Another player that has struggled for game time is Naby Keita. The Guinea midfielder signed from RB Leipzig this season but picked up an injury during an earlier international break.
Klopp was speaking about the midfielder’s impact at added the 23-year-old is another long-term project.
“The start was rather good then average.
“He had a game on a football pitch that wasn’t really a football pitch, it was yellow!
“He came back tired – three stops on way back. Yesterday he was back in training. It’s a long-term project with Naby.”
The pair need their time to adjust to the rigours of the Premier League, and what Klopp is doing with them is perfect.
Andy Robertson was bedded into the team slowly and now is one of the best in the world. Hopefully, the same level of progression can be expected out of the midfielder pair and we don’t sell any of them soon.
