Marseille are interested in the services of Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno, according to L’Equipe (h/t Get French Football News).
The Spaniard is the second-choice at Anfield, thanks to the emergence of Andy Robertson, and the report adds that the 26-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Moreno has just one Premier League start to his name and eight minutes in the Champions League campaign this term so far.
Marseille’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has compiled a list of options for the left-back spot with Moreno at the top of the list, as per the report.
There have been no formal talks between the teams, as per the report, and Marseille would be free to speak with the player in the January window.
The Reds don’t have any other senior left-backs in the side but we have a few players that can be shoehorned into that role.
James Milner has played in that position in place of Moreno a couple of years ago and we could even play Joe Gomez there.
The English defender started his Liverpool career in that position before being shifted to right-back and now stars as a centre-back.
Selling Moreno in the winter window would bring us some clash but it makes sense to keep him as we don’t have other left-backs ready to step up in case Robertson picks up a knock.
