Xherdan Shaqiri hasn’t closed the door on a return to Italy but is happy with Liverpool. The Swiss star didn’t have a great time with Inter Milan and joined Stoke City from the Italian side in 2015.
Jurgen Klopp snapped the 27-year-old from the relegated Potters in the summer, and Shaqiri has started a handful of matches for the Reds.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Daily Star), the attacker didn’t criticise Inter for his spell at the club:
“I had some good times there, and I couldn’t criticise Inter Milan ever.”
Shaqiri added that many players joined Inter at the time, and there were plenty of changes. The Swiss claimed he was fine at Liverpool but didn’t rule out a return to Italy.
“A lot of players joined in that winter, such as Podolski, Kovacic, myself, and a lot of changes were ongoing.
“Go back to Italy? I’m fine at Liverpool, but you never know.”
Shaqiri is slowly being bedded into the team by Klopp and the attacker got a few minutes on the pitch in our 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Shaqiri has looked pretty good whenever he has started games, and we need to the Swiss to play more for the team.
The 27-year-old is possibly our only creative midfielder, and he has the ability to win us games single-handedly.
