Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers might not have taken us to glory during his time at the club, but the Northern Irishman wants the club to win the Premier League title.
Rodgers was given a chance after a decent spell at Swansea City and came close to lifting the title in 2014 until that unfortunate “slip” of Steven Gerrard.
The former Reds manager was speaking to the Daily Mail and praised the work done by Jurgen Klopp.
“I want to see them do well, of course.
“For the supporters, it would be brilliant. When you think how close we got that time, it became really emotional in that last five games and to go that close and not to win it was tough. I look more from a distance now. They will go close. Jurgen Klopp has done a fantastic job and invested well.”
Liverpool have started the season well and sit just two points behind Manchester City after 14 games. However, the team have not been playing their free-flowing football of last season.
The Celtic man was also asked if it was human to want his successor to fall short of the achievements he had at Anfield but Rodgers had a cheeky reply to that.
“It’s only human to ask. But Jurgen rents my house. I want him to be there as long as possible.”
Liverpool needs to find a spark from somewhere to go all the way this year. We have been getting the job done, however, in order to catch Manchester City, more needs to be done.

If we can find the goalscoring touch again, then there is hardly anyone in Europe who can stop us.
