Jordan Pickford will certainly rue some of the comments he made about Alisson earlier in the season. The Everton keeper’s mistake allowed Divock Origi to score a 96th-minute winner at Anfield, and there was no place to hide for the Englishman.

The Mirror carried his quotes from earlier in the season when he spoke about keepers such as Alisson and Ederson that have to be good with their feet.

“I try not to do tricks because I don’t want to be caught with it. It’s a risk.

“It’s a style of play and I think that’s the way Liverpool want to play as well. You’ve got to accept where mistakes will happen and it’s about not making the next one.

“It’s all about managing the game and not making it again in the same game I’d say.”

Pickford added that although mistakes happen all over the ground, it is the mistake from the goalkeeper that is spoken about the most.

“For me, I’m going to try not to put myself in that position to make those mistakes. You don’t want to get too comfortable if you’re winning and start trying to be a No. 10 player.”

Well, he did make a huge mistake last night, and the best way to deal with the slice effort from Van Dijk would have been to tip the ball over for a corner.

Nevertheless, Alisson came out on top over this duel and some Liverpool fans were quick to remind Pickford of his comments.
