Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic might prefer a move to Liverpool over Chelsea, according to football consultant Ian McGarry.

McGarry was speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast and claimed that Pulisic could get lost in the wealth of talent at Chelsea, and sees getting more opportunities at Liverpool.

Chelsea and the Reds have been linked (h/t Daily Star) with a move for the American sensation, and the consultant believed our owners want to sign the 20-year-old.

McGarry was quoted by the Daily Star claiming that they had spoken about Chelsea trying to sign the player, and the press then reporting that Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea met to discuss the possible transfer.

“What has transpired since is that speaking to a member of the players’ representative team, I’ve ascertained that Pulisic himself at 19 fears that he may get lost in the Chelsea flood of talented attacking midfielders.

“And unless one of the major players moves on – and I think he’s looking at Eden Hazard and the possibility of him leaving next summer, which is certainly a possibility but not yet confirmed – then he feels his future would be better, or more optimistic, at Liverpool where he sees there’s a need and desire to play that 4-3-3 system that Jurgen Klopp favours.”

“And there is a desire from the owners of Liverpool to recruit the next American superstar.”

The 20-year-old is one of the brightest players in the Bundesliga and the report claims that the Blues want to sign him on a £70m deal.

Moving to Liverpool would be the ideal situation for the American. The Dortmund star is a known element to Jurgen Klopp, and our manager would certainly find a use for the attacker at the club.

Hopefully, we will beat Chelsea to the signing of the 20-year-old and help him realise his full potential.
