Marko Grujic

Marko Grujic couldn’t remain at Liverpool this season and continued his development at Hertha Berlin. The Serbian joined the Bundesliga side on loan and had a great start to the campaign. However, an injury kept him out for a couple of months but he is back to his best now.

Grujic hasn’t lost a single Bundesliga game with Berlin this season and got the only goal in the win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 22-year-old earned a lot of praise from manager Pal Dardai, who claimed Grujic was the best midfielder he had ever seen at Hertha (h/t Bundesliga.com):

“I’ve been at Hertha for 22 years.

“This isn’t meant as an insult to anyone else, but Marko is by far the best midfielder I’ve seen in my time at the club.”

“I was a defensive midfielder and managed to score 17 goals, which isn’t bad. But Marko carries much more of a goal threat, he’s got a sensational shot on him and is much better than I was […] He can play anywhere in midfield.”

The manager added that the Serbian is great in the air, can win tackles and has a ton of potential. The 22-year-old certainly seems to be making a name for himself in the German league, and it will be interesting to see our plans for him next season.

The youngster enjoyed a fine spell with Cardiff City last season too and was part of the national team that played at the World Cup.

A full campaign in a top league will certainly help his growth, and the Serbian could come back as the finished article to star under Jurgen Klopp.
