Georginio Wijnaldum

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum doesn’t believe the team is invincible after Manchester City’s loss to Chelsea last weekend.

The result meant the Reds are the only unbeaten side in England’s top seven tiers (h/t Evening Standard), however, the Dutch midfielder claims Jurgen Klopp is keeping the team focused and grounded for the battles ahead.

The former Newcastle United midfielder said (h/t Evening Standard):

“Invincible? No, not really. We know we have to do a lot to not lose games and even more to win it.

“We know we have to give a good performance every week to continue the run we are in.

“I don’t really think we are invincible and if we think that we have a manager that would put both feet on the ground.”

The Reds qualified from their Champions League group with a win over Napoli but the fixtures keep coming as the festive period sees the team play six games in 22 days.

Wijnaldum didn’t believe there would be a drop in intensity and claimed the only difference would be in our travelling schedule.

“I don’t see a big difference.

“Until February we play a lot of games so basically not a lot changes, the only difference is we play only in England but the amount of games is still the same.

“I don’t know if it is a big difference, you just don’t have to travel.”

The Dutch midfielder has been one of the star performers from a great season, so far, and our next clash is against Manchester United on Sunday.

A win will keep us at the top of the table, and hopefully, Wijnaldum plays a huge role at Anfield.
