Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool are unlikely to make any signings in the winter window, despite several injuries to their defenders.
Joel Matip and Joe Gomez suffered fractures in recent weeks while Trent Alexander-Arnold also picked up a minor knock in our 1-0 win over Napoli.
The German was speaking ahead of the clash against Manchester United and expected the pair of centre-backs to return soon (h/t Express).
“Our situation is like this: if you would have asked me two weeks before if we were doing anything in the transfer window I would have said ‘Probably not’.
“Now we have two centre-halves left. Will we do something? Not really likely because they are not out for (long).”
The manager also spoke about not recalling Harry Wilson unless we really needed to. The Welsh attacker has been fantastic for Derby this season, and Klopp wanted his development to continue under Frank Lampard.
“It’s unlikely we’ll do something in the transfer market but like with Harry you react when some new happens.
“We don’t want to take him away unless we absolutely have to.
“We like watching him and seeing what he is doing there.”
The Reds need to get the better of United on Sunday if we are to stay at the top of the Premier League. Klopp has never defeated United in the Premier League with Liverpool, and hopefully, that changes on Sunday.
