Liverpool face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, which is one of the biggest rivalries in football.

The Reds are 16 points clear of their rivals after just 16 games, but we have some problems in the defence.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez will miss the tie due to injuries while Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up a knock in our 1-0 win over Napoli in midweek.

Jurgen Klopp was speaking ahead of the game and claimed that the English right-back’s fitness is being assessed daily (h/t Liverpoolfc.com):

“With Trent it’s not as serious as it is with the other two boys, but of course it is absolutely not top-class news, that’s clear.

“Trent, we have to see. For him, it is day by day how we judge it. It’s not cool but as long as we still have enough players, it is our job to always find a solution for it – and we will have a solution for the weekend, but of course it is not perfect.”

The German also spoke about how unlucky Matip was with his injury as it came in the dying seconds of our win over Napoli.

“It was unlucky as well, especially with Joel; the last second of the game. When you asked me in the press conference I had no idea about it because I had to go doing different stuff pretty much immediately and I didn’t see him on the pitch because I spoke to Carlo [Ancelotti].”

There was some good news for us as Klopp claimed Nathaniel Clyne has trained with the side and could play, however, the German hinted that youngsters like Rafa Camacho and Curtis Jones could do the job.

The Reds have never beaten United under Klopp in the Premier League, and that could change on Sunday.
