Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp responded the latest Jose Mourinho jibe where the Manchester United manager claimed that trophies are important.

The United manager was speaking ahead of our clash against the Red Devils, and Klopp was not going to have any of it.

The German claimed that anything less than a trophy would not be considered as a failure after our great start to the season (h/t Liverpool Echo).

“Do I have to? Do I have to win it?”

“People might remember that but what I have to do is make the best of the things the club is offering me – that is what I believe in.”

The manager also spoke about the Champions League ride last season, claiming it was brilliant, even if we didn’t win the title.

Klopp also claimed that life wouldn’t be great if it was only about doing the best all the time.

“I enjoyed it a lot. Going to the final was fantastic but in life – in all departments of life including your job – if only the best counts and effort doesn’t count then life is s***.

“You can do whatever you want but if I’m not as smart as Einstein or whatever, I can’t try a little bit? I will never be him.

“I love the challenge. Make the best of it. That is how I understand life, I learned it a little bit in football. In the end other people have to judge that.”

The manager is yet to win a trophy during his time at Liverpool, but came close by making it to three finals. Liverpool have made their best start ever in the club’s history, and lead the Premier League after 16 games.

Klopp could certainly make this season even better with a win over United on Sunday, a feat the German has never achieved in the Premier League.
