Crystal Palace are interested in signing Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke in the January transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.
The former Chelsea striker hasn’t featured under Jurgen Klopp this season, and the report adds that Palace want to add more firepower to their side after scoring just 14 goals in this campaign.
The 21-year-old is wanted by former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard at Rangers too (h/t Evening Standard), and Palace are hopeful that the development of Ruben Loftus-Cheek last season will attract Solanke to join them in the coming window.
The report adds that Palace don’t have a lot of money to spend in the winter window, and the loan signing of the Liverpool striker is seen as an “attractive option”.
Solanke has found minutes hard to come under Klopp this season thanks to the re-emergence of Daniel Sturridge. The youngster wasn’t even brought on in the Merseyside derby against Everton with Divock Origi getting the winner.
The former Chelsea striker needs to move for regular football, and we should sanction a loan deal in January.
Keeping him in the team doesn’t make a lot of sense if he isn’t getting minutes, and Palace would be a great club for the Englishman to hone his skills.
