Liverpool cemented their place at the top of the Premier League table come Christmas morning after beating Wolves 2-0 at Molineux on Friday night.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk were enough to extend our lead to the top by four points. Manchester City couldn’t cut the gap as they shockingly lost their home game to Crystal Palace today.
However, Wolves were a tough test for the Reds. The newly-promoted side had already defeated Chelsea and taken a point against Manchester City this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is still nursing an injury and was in the away section of the crowd at the Molineux.

The Englishman’s place in the team was taken by James Milner. The veteran played as our right-back and was pleased with the result and that we were leading the Premier League.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson did well in central midfield. The former Monaco star created the first goal with a great run and pass. Alisson did his bit of keeping the Wolves team from scoring.

Van Dijk also shared his thoughts on the game and claimed that scoring a goal was a “proud moment” for him.
“Obviously scoring a goal is a bonus and obviously a very proud moment and hopefully there’s more to come, but I’m more focused on winning games.” 💪@VirgilvDijk ▶️ https://t.co/dhx98EOryy pic.twitter.com/d9C0qhW39K

The Reds don’t have a lot of time to rest as we play Newcastle United at Anfield on Boxing Day. Hopefully, we continue our good run and pick up the three points against Rafa Benitez’s side without much fuss.
