Liverpool are targeting a January move for Napoli sensation Lorenzo Insigne, according to reports from England (h/t Calciomercato).
The Italian was in action against the Reds in the two Champions League games recently and the report adds that Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by the 27-year-old.
Insigne has been one of the best attackers in the Serie A in recent seasons. He has scored 10 goals and supplied five assists in all competitions this term.
The 27-year-old plays as a left-winger but can do a job down the middle too. Napoli sold one of their stars at the start of the season with Jorginho joining Chelsea, and the report adds that the Reds will bid over €100m to satisfy the needs of the Italian side’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The Italian would be an excellent signing, even if we are to go crazy with our winter spending. Napoli failed to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League and will have to do with Europa League football in 2019.
The Serie A giants are second in the table, eight points behind Juventus, and it will take a bit of a miracle if they are to break the stronghold of the Old Lady for the Scudetto.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t spend a lot in the winter window, but signing world-class players in January could take us closer to the Premier League title and silverware this season.
