Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has conceded that Liverpool are better than his club at the moment.

The Reds opened up a 10-point lead over the Cityzens with their 5-1 win over Arsenal, though City can reduce that gap if they beat Southampton on Sunday.

The defending champions have lost their way a bit in recent weeks with costly defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

However, the Spaniard defended his team after a great start to the campaign where they racked up 44 points from 19 games.

The Spaniard was quoted by the Liverpool Echo claiming that getting 88 points in a season should equate to being champions but conceded that Tottenham and Liverpool are better than the Cityzens now.

“But of course you have the past two games, against Crystal Palace and Leicester, and you have that sense, because there are two teams there now who are better than us in the last month.

“What can we say when Liverpool keep nine clean sheets and score a lot of goals? We cannot compete with that in terms of comparing with them.”

Tottenham have also overtaken the Cityzens after some fine performances but were handed a shock defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last game.

This sets up our clash against the Cityzens perfectly on Thursday. Liverpool are unbeaten after 20 games this season, and if we can avoid defeat at the Etihad, there could be something special at Anfield at the end of the season.
