Liverpool have contrasting transfer plans for a couple of Belgian stars, according to Nieuwsblad (h/t Daily Star). Divock Origi, who scored the Merseyside derby winner, has attracted interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Schalke and Lille (h/t Daily Star) and could be allowed to leave in January.

The same cannot be said about Simon Mignolet. The Belgian is our second-choice goalkeeper and will be “forced” to stay as the cover for Alisson.

The report adds that both players wanted a summer move away, however, Jurgen Klopp kept the pair due to a lack of squad depth. Origi needs regular first-team minutes to continue his development,  which is unlikely to come at Liverpool this season.

Klopp has shifted Mohamed Salah as the striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation, and we have Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke who can play as the striker.

Mignolet’s case is a little different as we don’t have an experienced back-up for summer signing Alisson. Loris Karius was sent on loan to Besiktas, and should our No.1 pick up an injury, the Belgian is a decent option to call upon.

Ideally, we shouldn’t change too many things from the team given our strong position in the league. We are unbeaten after 20 games and need to keep as many quality players as possible ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Origi might not get a lot of minutes on the pitch but he did the job for us against the Blues, and there could be more instances for the Belgian to come off the bench and shine for us.
